Dunkirk cleanup planned for Sunday
Revitalize Dunkirk, Inc. is hosting the seventh annual Dunkirk Community Cleanup on Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon. Community volunteers are asked to meet at the city Parking Lot at Washington Avenue and Lake Shore Drive East. Revitalize Dunkirk will provide refreshments, trash bags, and gloves. Individuals and groups are welcome! Focus areas include: Washington Park, Main Street Beach, Central Avenue (downtown), Main and Fourth streets and Lake Shore Drive.
Veterans walk set for Saturday
CASSADAGA – Saturday, April 26 is the “They Marched for us, We Walk for Them walk-a-thon” at the Cassadaga Legion from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to benefit Veterans. This event is a state-wide Legion Auxiliary & Sons of the Legion event. Stop by the Cassadaga Legion, located at 228 Maple Ave.
Library to hold open mic poetry reading
SINCLAIRVILLE – Join John Brantingham, professor emeritus of creative writing, at the Sinclairville Free Library for an open mic poetry reading at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 28 to celebrate poetry month. Brantingham will lead a free poetry workshop from 4-6 p.m. prior to the open reading where poets may generate new material to share or polish up poems before the reading.
Westfield-Portland Union Cemetery Board to meet
WESTFIELD – The annual board meeting of the Westfield-Portland Union Cemetery will be held Monday, April 28, at 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Westfield. Lot owners are welcome to attend.
CVCS School Board schedules morning meeting
SINCLAIRVILLE – A special meeting of the Board of Education of the Cassadaga Valley Central School District will be held on Tuesday, April 29, at 7:15 A.M. in the District Office conference room. The purpose of the meeting is to vote on the Erie 2 BOCES 25-26 Administrative Budget and Board of Education election.
CLCS board changes meeting time
MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua Lake Central School Board will hold its upcoming meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday in the Secondary Library at CLCS. This meeting was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. but has been rescheduled.
Sons of American Legion Squad 59 to meet
The Sons of American Legion Squad 59 will be holding their monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 29 at 7 p.m. due to the Easter Holiday at Post 59, 156 E Main Street, Fredonia.
June 7 is the new date for the Sons meat raffle. A committee will be formed to discuss the event and start making plans for the date.
The 2025/2026 election of officers will be in May and any nominations need be made at the April 29 meeting. All SAL Squadron 59 are encouraged to attend the meeting.
