Taste of the South
dinner May 9
The Juneteenth 2025 Celebration Committee will be sponsoring the Annual Taste of the South on Friday, May 9 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Open Door No. 3 Church of God in Christ, 59 Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk, New York. Dinners will be take-out only.
The Annual Taste of the South is a Southern style African American down home bar-b-que featuring for dinner bar-b-que ribs, bar-b-que chicken, shredded pork, macaroni and cheese, green beans with white potatoes, and cornbread. The dinner will also include a taste of many Southern dishes such as sweet potato casserole, corn on the cob, and desserts including sweet potato pie.
This event will kick off the Juneteenth 2025 celebration which is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 21 and 22 in Memorial Park in Dunkirk. For more information and tickets, please call Laurie at 785-7900 or Loretta at 363-1102.

Retirees gather on Saturday
The Al Tech / Dunkirk Specialty Steel Retirees will meet Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Demitri’s Restaurant, Lake Shore Drive West in Dunkirk. All retirees are invited to attend.
Cemetery Association
plans cleanup day
SOUTH DAYTON — The Villenova Burial Association announces the Villenova Cemetery Spring Cleanup Day will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. with a rain date of Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m. at the Villenova Cemetery, Cemetery Road. Members and volunteers are needed to help clear tree branches and rake and clear winter debris to ready the Cemetery for mowing season. Bring your own rakes, tools and gloves. Water and Super Duper doughnuts will be provided. Please join us, and bring a friend.
