Martz-Kohl observatory
presents at Cassadaga Library
CASSADAGA – On Thursday, at 7 p.m., the Martz-Kohl Observatory will present a telescope training at the Cassadaga Branch of the Seymour Library, 18 Maple Ave. The telescopes, donated to both the Stockton and Cassadaga branches of the Mary E. Seymour Memorial Free Library by the observatory, are available for check out. This is the second free, public event offered by the partnership of the library and the observatory.
Fredonia Legion plans Memorial Day services
Fredonia American Legion Post 59 will hold Memorial Services on Monday at the Fredonia Village Hall at noon. The services are open to the public.
SOAR Chapter
meeting on Tuesday
SOAR Chapter 4-1 will meet Tuesday at the USW Local 2693 Union Hall. The meeting will begin at noon with lunch to follow. All SOAR members and retirees are invited to attend. For further information call 716.-366-1485.
County Historical
Society Gala set
WESTFIELD – The Chautauqua County Historical Society will hold its annual fundraiser and gala from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, at McClurg Museum.
All proceeds support CCHS operations, which include ongoing renovation efforts at the museum.
Tickets are $50 and can be obtained by calling CCHS at 716.326.2977 or contacting a CCHS board member.
The gala includes hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. A large tent will be set up in the park for seating. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the museum and view exhibits, including the recently completed Chautauqua Lake display in the basement of the museum.
Members of the organization’s board of trustees will be on hand to answer questions and share details about recent CCHS efforts, including the completion of several renovations to McClurg Museum, which is located in Westfield. The 9th NY Cavalry Civil War reenactment group will once again stage an encampment in Moore Park throughout the weekend.
