Saturday meat party

SILVER CREEK – American Legion Post 148’s Meat Party Spin to Win Fundraiser will take place Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. at 13 N. Main St. Refreshments served. Stop in and support your local veterans and win some great prizes.

classes set at city library

The Dunkirk Public Library, 536 Central Ave., has announced computer classes for June, including: Android Phone Features on June 4 from 11 a.m. to noon; Basic Computers on June 11 from 11 a.m. to noon; iPad Basics on June 13 from 11 a.m. to noon; iPhone Features on June 17 from 11 a.m. to noon; Ancestry Library Edition on June 18 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.; Email Basics on June 24 from 11 a.m. to noon; Ancestry Library Edition on June 26 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Registration is required for all classes. Call (716) 366-2511 to reserve a seat. Personal Devices are needed for some classes.

United Seniors

meet again in June

The United Senior Citizens met at the Falcon Club, 341 Lake Shore Drive East, Dunkirk, on the second Monday of May to enjoy lunch consisting of beef on weck, pulled barbecue chicken, au gratin potatoes, tossed salad and spring asparagus.

Assistants Linda Riley and Robin Carr ran the meeting in President Evonne Hennebery’s absence.

It was a beautiful day outside as well as inside where the group welcomed three new members: Diane Enser, Trish Timko and Pat Vazquez.

The group stood together to recite The Pledge of Allegiance (led by Tom DeJoe) then all sang God Bless America with a moment of silence was offered for passing members: Sarah Gorczynski and John Binko. Grace was offered by Annette DeCosta and all sang the Happy Birthday Song to Carol Genovese, Lucy Saeli, Pat Ebert and Vazquez.

Announcements were given including the upcoming Finger Lakes trip through Complete Group Travel to be held on June 10 where adventurers will be picked up in Dunkirk and Westfield. Call Carr at 716-680-0302 for reservations for this $100 day trip that will include a stop in Watkins Glen and Wilson’s 350-acre hormone-free beef farm. Bingo was called by Saeli and Rosemary Mancuso.

June’s luncheon will be roast turkey, polish sausage, mashed potatoes, tossed salad and a choice of asparagus or green beans. Please designate which vegetable when making your reservation to Hennebery. Send $15 check made to United Senior Citizens to Hennebery, PO Box 706, Dunkirk, NY 14048 by June 5. We welcome all seniors 55 and older!
