‘Canyon Chorus’ film to be shown

BEMUS POINT – On Saturday, June 28 at 6 p.m., Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will be hosting a screening of the short film “Canyon Chorus,” which was recently featured at the BANFF Center Mountain Film Festival World Tour. A panel discussion on accessibility and inclusion needs and efforts in our local communities will follow. There will also be an evening bonfire. Speakers include Kaycee Colburn, Andrea DiMaio, and Miles Hilton.

Amateur Radio Field Day set

Members of the CCAFMA, Chautauqua County Amateur FM Association, will be participating in the national Amateur Radio Field Day exercise, June 28 and June 29, 2025 at Luensman Overlook Park. Since 1933, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science and skill of Amateur Radio. This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.

This will run from 2 p.m. Saturday to Sunday afternoon at Luensman Overlook Park, 7896 Thayer Rd, Portland.

Brocton/Portland Democrats seek candidates

The Brocton/Portland Democratic Committee will be seeking candidates for the Village of Brocton and Town of Portland to run in the November 4, 2025 General Election,

The positions are two Brocton Village trustees (4 year term) and in the Town of Portland Town Supervisor, Town Clerk, Two Town Council members, Town Highway Superintendent and Town Tax Collector. All positions are for a four-year term.
