Fireworks Planned

For Bemus Point On Holiday

BEMUS POINT — A fireworks display is planned for Friday in Bemus Point.

According to organizers, the show will take place on Friday at 10 p.m. from barges in the Bemus Bay. The display will be visible from the village park, Lakeside Drive, and all around the Village of Bemus Point.

This event is organized by the Bemus Point Business Association and made possible entirely through community support.

Fredonia planning brush pickup

The village of Fredonia will be picking up limbs and yard waste beginning Monday at 7 a.m. Collection will continue until every village street has been completed. Bags and brush are collected separately by different crews. All items for collection must be at the curb no later than 7 Monday morning. In no case will there be a repeat collection of areas completed.

All yard waste must be bagged or in barrels. The village encourages residents to use biodegradable bags or barrels and all limbs must be tied with twine.

Limbs and brush must be cut no longer than 4 feet in length with bundles being no larger than 18 inches in diameter. Bundles and bags are limited to 65 pounds in weight. There is no collection of loose material. No loose leaves will be picked up.

Residents are reminded that they can bring yard waste to 176 Eagle St. No bags or containers are to be left behind.

Class of 1965 celebrating reunion

The Silver Creek Class of 1965 will be celebrating their 60th reunion this year on July 25 and 26.

Festivities include a casual Friday night bash starting at 6 p.m., at the home for Carol (Wells) and Joe Calarco, 97 Forest Place in Fredonia. Casual attire pulled pork sliders, coleslaw, wings, pizza, desserts, and beverages will be provided, along with a lot of laughing and sharing of memories.

Saturday, July 26, a casual picnic starts at 11:30 (meet and greet), at Russell Joy Park, 105 Howard St., Fredonia. A catered meal from Duper’s consists of beef on weck, baked chicken, Caeser salad, bacon ranch pasta salad, fruit salad and dessert. Some beverages will be provided. You can bring your own beverage, but no glass bottles or containers are allowed.

There is still time to make your reservations, cost is $25, just contact Carol Calarco at 716-640-5585. Must have reservations by July 12.

Fred Basket lists hoursfor month

On Saturday, July 19, Fred Basket previously known as The Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Avenue. Additionally, it is open Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. and Thursdays 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Guests may only receive one helping a month.

These new hours hope to serve those who cannot attend on Saturdays the food pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, ZIP code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.
