Back-to-school donation drive underway

GOWANDA — The Thrifty Panther, a free resource for students at Gowanda High School, is accepting gently used, freshly cleaned summer & fall clothing for students in need.

Also collecting: New school supplies and unopened personal hygiene products (deodorant, etc.)

Contributions will help ensure students begin the 2025-2026 academic year with confidence. Items appropriate for high school age students are graciously preferred.

Donations can be dropped off at the Counseling Center at GHS on Prospect Street on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Trinity United Church of Christ free community meal

GOWANDA — The Trinity United Church, located at Erie Avenue and Park Street, Gowanda, will host a take-out only free community meal at the Park Street entrance on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 4 to 6 p.m. or gone. The menu is sloppy joes, pasta salad, chips, fruited jello and cookie. Free will donations are appreciated but not necessary. Drive East Main to Railroad Avenue and then down Park Street, following the signs, or walk up. Everyone is welcome. The next meal is Sept. 13.
