Can drive in city Saturday
The Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name Society will hold a can drive at the Lake Shore Drive and Pangolin Street entrance of the old St. Hyacinth School.
After the merger of Blessed Mary Angela Parish to Holy Trinity Parish takes place in February, the Old St. Hyacinth School will remain open as the Lord’s Vineyard Catholic Education Center. The Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name Society will continue its ministry of support for Our Lord’s Vineyard out of the school.
All funds raised from the can drive will go toward the remodeling of the kitchen in the school to allow the Holy Name to continue with its fundraising dinners, dances and social activities out of the school.
If you would like to help with the remodel you can drop off a check at the can drive make checks payable to:Blessed Mary Angela Holy Name Society. All funds raised by the Holy Name Society stay within the Society for Parish needs, none of the funds raised are used to pay off the Diocesan bankruptcy.
The can drive will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the school.
Humane Society sets monthly general membership meeting
The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold a monthly general membership meeting on Thursday, Aug. 21 at the Lakeshore Humane Society Adoption Center, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome. See www.lakeshorehumanesociety.org or call 716-672-1991 for information.
