Camp Gross golf tourney this weekend
CASSADAGA — The seventh annual Dr. John R.and Alona Forbes Golf Tournament and Basket Raffle will be this Friday and Saturday at the Cassadaga County Club, Frisbee Road. The Basket Raffle begins on Friday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. outside of the Pro Shop, enjoy a delicious dinner at the CCC and support Camp Gross in the process. The Tournament begins with a shot-gun start at 9 a.m. with registration at 8 on Saturday and the basket raffle continues until noon. Golfers are still needed to fill out the course.
Brocton-Portland Seniors meet
BROCTON — Brocton-Portland Seniors met July 29 at Tri-Church Parish with President Margaret Jagoda opening the meeting for 54 members and guest speaker from Ahira Library in Brocton.
Prayer was given by Barbara Crandall and Pledge of Allegiance by Daune Hemmis. The picnic luncheon featured hamburgers and hot dogs prepared by Tom DeJoe, Chuck Cichon, Paul Briggs, Brian Stanton and Tom Hebeisen.
Committee members were Linda Riley, centerpieces, Jim and Daune Hemmis, Judy Nixon, Robin Carr, Rita Bennett, Barbara Crandall, Clara Wilder, were thanked for their great job for the luncheon. New member Alan Delcamp was welcomed.
Julie Morrison Putcher, director of Ahira Hall Memorial Library, passed out a newsletter detailing the many activities for all ages interested in crafts, art or computer help.
The Concert in the Park on Aug. 21 is sponsored by the library.
There is a car show Sunday at the Brocton Legion from 1 to 5 p.m. with BBQ chicken, ice cream truck and music.
A onation of $50 will be given to the Library on motion by Robin Carr seconded by Denise Griffin passed. There is a trip to Pittsburgh Sept 7. For details call Robin Carr 716-230-4081. Anniversaries were Jim and Daune Hemmis 34 years, Charlie and Barbara Crandall 39 years and Shane and Janice West 45 years!
Birthdays were Linda Burton, Beverly Strauser, Ann Cochran, Marlene Davis, Charlie Crandall, Nancy Hayden, Brian Stanton and Elaine Frederickson. Door prizes won by Sandy Terrill, Linda Riley and Annabell Hahn. Raffle prizes had 14 happy winners followed by 12 centerpiece winners made by Linda Riley.
The next meeting is Aug. 26, is a potluck with members to bring dish to share and personal table service. The committee is Delores Fairbanks, Elaine Frederickson, Kathy Hobbs and Louise Torrey. Bingo will be played!
