Cassadaga’s National Night Out, Aug. 6, at Johnny Fessenden’s Ball Fields was well attended by local, county and state first responders, as well as the community.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the Legion Hall. The evening ended with a prayer remembering our Troops, a thank you for a great evening, and safe travels home for all.

United Senior Citizens meet again Sept. 8

Members and guests of the United Senior Citizens met at the Falcon Club, 341 Lake Shore Drive East on Aug. 11. After President Evonne Hennebery welcomed everyone, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited along with the singing of God Bless America. The invocation was given before everyone enjoyed a picnic buffet lunch consisting of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, potato salad, macaroni salad, tossed salad, baked beans and delicious mocha cake for dessert. Beautiful job done, Allison!

The following had birthdays in August: Dorothy Derby, Tom DeJoe, Deb Messere, Louise Richir and Marsha Sullivan.

The treasurer’s report and announcements were given and afterwards bingo was called by the dynamic duo of Lucy Saeli and Rosemary Mancuso.

The next fun meeting will be Monday, Sept. 8 at noon. However, come a little early if you’d like to “catch up” with friends and acquaintances over coffee. Lunch will be: meatloaf, baked chicken, green beans, tossed salad and fruit salad. Dessert is a surprise! As usual, make your check out for $15 to United Senior Citizens and send it to: Evonne Hennebery, PO Box 706, Dunkirk, NY 14048.

United Senior Citizens meet the second Monday of each month except January and February. Dues are $5 per year and it’s a great lunch date out for you and your friends. While being treated respectfully and warmly by the Falcon Club, we welcome new members/guests throughout the year.
