Concert tonight at Point Gratiot
A make-up concert will take place Thursday, Sept. 4, at Point Gratiot Park in Dunkirk at the Music Pavilion. At 6 p.m. will be the opener Silver Xtreme. At 7:30 p.m. will be the headliner Midnight Recovery. The normal food trucks and VIP sponsor areas will be the same as usual.
Overnight closures of Interstate 86 Bridge Over Chautauqua Lake
The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the bridge carrying Interstate 86 over Chautauqua Lake between the towns of North Harmony and Ellery, Chautauqua County, will be closed to traffic in both directions from 9 p.m. Friday, September 5, to 9 a.m. Saturday, September 6, to facilitate an ongoing rehabilitation project.
Motorists should follow the posted detour utilizing State Route 394 and State Route 430. Work could be postponed depending on weather conditions.
Chautauqua Cruiser Car Club to host picnic
WESTFIELD – The Chautauqua Cruiser Car Club is inviting new or prospective car enthusiasts to join for the club’s end of summer picnic at 1 p.m. Sept. 14 at 7607 North Gale Road, Westfield. Meat, pop/water and table service will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass. Reservations are requested by calling Katy at 716-782-4036 by Sept. 7.
County Ethics Board to meet Sept. 10
MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Ethics Board will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, in Room 331 of the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St. in Mayville. Current members of the board are John Hamels, Diane Hannum, Stephanie Stevens, and Darlene Nygren. Rabies clinics scheduled throughout county in September
The Chautauqua County Health Department, in partnership with the Chautauqua County Humane Society and the towns of Ripley, French Creek, and Charlotte, will host four free rabies vaccination clinics throughout September. Dates are: 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 13 at the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown; 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Ripley Highway Department, 50 Ross St., Ripley; 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 23 at the French Creek Highway Department, 10106 Ravlin Hill Road, Clymer; noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Sinclairville Volunteer Fire Company, 30 Main St., Sinclairville. Dogs, cats and ferrets three months of age and older are eligible for a vaccination.Visit HealthyCHQ.com/rabies to schedule an appointment. If unable to attend, please cancel via the confirmation email to open your spot to others. Bring prior vaccination records to determine if a pet is eligible for a three-year booster. All dogs must be on a leash. Cats and ferrets must be in individual carriers. Animal handlers will transport animals to the veterinarian for vaccination.
