Fredonia to hold final brush pick-up

The Village of Fredonia will be picking up limbs and yard waste beginning Monday Sept. 8, at 7 a.m. Collection will continue until every village street has been completed. Bags and brush are collected separately by different crews. All items for collection must be at the curb no later than 7 a.m. Monday morning. In no case will there be a repeat collection of areas completed.

ALL YARD WASTE MUST BE BAGGED OR IN BARRELS. WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO USE BIODEGRADABLE BAGS OR BARRELS AND ALL LIMBS AND BRUSH MUST BE TIED WITH TWINE. Limbs and brush must be cut no longer than 4 feet in length with bundles being no larger than 18 inches in diameter. Bundles and bags are limited to 65 pounds in weight. There is no collection of loose material. NO LOOSE LEAVES WILL BE PICKED UP.

Residents are reminded that they can bring yard waste to 176 Eagle street. No bags or containers shall be left behind.

This will be the final brush pick up for the season.

Overnight Closures Of I-86 Bridge Over Chautauqua Lake

The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the bridge carrying Interstate 86 over Chautauqua Lake between the towns of North Harmony and Ellery, Chautauqua County, will be closed to traffic in both directions from 9 p.m. Friday, September 5, to 9 a.m. Saturday, September 6, to facilitate an ongoing rehabilitation project. Motorists should follow the posted detour utilizing State Route 394 and State Route 430. Work could be postponed depending on weather conditions.

Full Moon Paddle Saturday

CASSADAGA – The Cassadaga Lakes Association is holding a Full Moon Paddle on Saturday, Sept. 6. Participants should meet at the beach on Park Avenue in the village at 6:30 p.m. Departure will take place at 7 p.m. Participants must wear life jackets and have lights on their kayak/canoe/other floating vessel that requires a paddle. Bring your own food and drink. There will be Tikki torches and a bon fire.

Benefit Saturday in memory of Annemarie

The organizing committee of the benefit for Annemarie sincerely thanks the community, colleagues, friends and merchants who have so generously given to her event. Sadly, Annmarie has passed but the event is still on. The need remains and the committee wishes to honor the outpouring of generosity, carrying on in remembrance of Annemarie. Please come to the Conservation Club on Saturday, Sept. 6 for food, live music, basket and other special raffles, 50/50, Queen of Hearts and a Corn Hole Tournament. Corn Hole registration is at 10 a.m. with equipment provided and no partner needed. The general event runs from 1-5 p.m. with the basket raffle drawing beginning at 4 p.m.

Sesquecentennial Open House at Daisy Farm to benefit local museum

The Daisy Farm will celebrate 150 years by hosting an open house at their 1875 Victorian Gothic Cottage on Sunday, Sept. 21, from 1-5 p.m. Visitors are invited to enjoy live music with performances from The McClenathan Brothers and pianist Kay Barlow, Victorian-era yard games, wine and beer tastings with 21 Brix Winery and Monster Beach Brewery & Tiki Bar, and a dessert banquet provided by local bakers. The event will feature a basket raffle with prizes donated by local businesses, and the proceeds will benefit the Darwin R. Barker Historical Museum in Fredonia.

This free event will be held at Daisy Farm, the AirBnB sharing the grounds of The Barn 3521 antiques. Address: 3521 East Main St., Fredonia, located on Route 20 in Sheridan. Come as you are – and Victorian-era costumes are encouraged.
