Lodge planning Sunday breakfast

Forest Lodge 166 F&AM will be holding its monthly Sunday Family Breakfast this weekend from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This all-you-can-eat breakfast will consist of eggs made to order, pancakes or French toast, sausages, fruit cocktail, juice, milk, coffee and tea. Adults and teenagers 13 and up are $12, children 5 to 12 are $6. Youth under 5 are free.

This breakfast is open to the public, and everyone is welcome and cordially invited to attend. Anyone with interests in, or has questions about Free Masonry will be given a tour of the building at the asking. Forest Lodge is located at 321 E. Main St., Fredonia.

Fly fishing course held at library

SINCLAIRVILLE — Learn to Fly Fish at the Sinclairville Free Library on Thursday evenings starting this week through Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. This is a free program to learn fly tying and fishing techniques.

All tools and materials will be provided. All ages are welcome to come and tie your own flies with host Greg Little. Library patrons may also practice new skills at home by checking out the fly-tying vise and tool kit that is available at the library.

Church holds rummage sale Friday

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Methodist Church will be holding a rummage sale on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Located at 2679 Route 20, items will be displayed downstairs inside the church, with some items outside. Donations will be accepted on most items, and collectibles and antiques will be priced reasonably.

Memorial service set for Friday

JAMESTOWN — A memorial service for Charlie Kirk will take place on Friday at 6: 30 p.m. at Koinonia Christian Fellowship, 1427 Peck Settlement Road. The service will remember Kirk’s life, his impact and his faith. “This is not a service to idolize and canonize him, says Pastor Mel McGinnis, “but to worship God, pray and have the message of the gospel shared, because that honors God and that’s what Charlie would want.” There will be brief eulogies, worship in song, and prayers for the family and the nation. All are invited, especially those who mourn his death and desire to respectfully remember him and his family.

Auxiliary sets events for month

The John T. Murray Post 1017 Auxiliary recently met in Dunkirk. The meeting opened according to ritual. District president Aurelia Taylor and the inspecting officer were introduced.

The fall conference is in Albany from Oct. 10 to 12 at the Marriott. At the fall conference, auxiliaries are asked to bring a basket red, white and blue theme for the cancer table. Auxiliaries are asked to bring one dozen cookies in packages of six, for the national home cookie sale at the conference. Also asked to bring ten $1 lottery tickets for the ways and means table.

A baby shower for the VA maternity department will be held Oct. 18, at 1:00 in Little Valley. Members are asked to bring baby items to the next meeting.

The auxiliary will be hosting a goulash dinner on Oct. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. with take outs only for a donation of $15. Tickets may be bought at the post or on that date. Dinner includes salad, bread, goulash and dessert. This is to help with programs for the upcoming year.

The auxiliary is still collecting cans and bottles for the Blue Star Moms helping to send boxes to the troops for either postage or items needed. Please take to Can Kings in Fredonia or Irving, just say it is for Blue Star Moms.

The Auxiliary will be taking lap robes and soap sacks, and snacks for the upcoming Honor Flight for Women only. The flight is in October.

The next meeting will be at the post on Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m.
