Mission of Helping Hands seeks donations
Kevin Weaver, Jack Herman, Roger Herron, and Sarah Lewis with Mission of Helping Hands will be going to Swannanoa Valley, North Carolina Oct. 12 to help in recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene.
This will be the fourth time Weaver and others have visited North Carolina, doing recovery work. The team will be building homes, clearing land, etc. Donations are sought to buy supplies and materials needed to get families back in their homes. United in Peace non-political service set for Tuesday
The organizers of the “United in Peace” wish to emphasize that the candlelight Prayer for Peace scheduled for Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. is non-political and open to everyone. It begins at the pavilion behind Holy Trinity Church, 1032 Central Ave., Dunkirk.
It will include scripture readings and reflections by Rev. Robert J. Owczarczak, pastor of The Lord’s Vineyard family of Catholic parishes and Pastor Matthew Schettler of St. Paul Lutheran Church. From there, participants will process to the front of the church on Central Avenue with candles, “Pray for Peace” signs, spending 15 minutes in silent prayer as a public witness of hope. Blood drive planned in Westfield
WESTFIELD — The Westfield Fire Department will be holding a blood drive on Friday, Oct. 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. Those wishing to donate should be at least 17 years old or 16 years old with parental consent. Individuals should weigh at least 110 pounds, have no tattoo or piercings in the past 3 months, and be in general good health.
Please eat before donating, and a PHOTO ID is required in order to donate. All blood types are needed and walk-ins are welcome. If you would like to schedule an appointment time please call Nancy at (716) 753-6641. Every donor will receive a free t-shirt from the Community Blood Bank.
The Community Blood Bank is the sole provider of blood products to the Westfield Memorial Hospital. The blood drive will be held at the Westfield Fire Department Hall on Clinton Street.
