Arch Festivals Sweetest Day Expo and Festival Saturday

BROCTON — The Arch Festivals will present the Sweetest Day Expo and Festival on Saturday at Brocton Central School, 138 W. Main St., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Utilize the school street entrance. The event includes food trucks, music all day by Sailing Stones, The Bob Smith Quartet and Tito as well as vendors, free drawings, a basket raffle and community groups. Admission is free. No Kings rally planned for Saturday

A No Kings rally will take place Saturday in Fredonia and begin at Cottage Street and Central Avenue at 10:30 a.m. Participants will march to Barker Common. The peaceful demonstration is a call for unity and a defense of democracy, organizers say.

“Together we stand in peace for our Constitution, to reaffirm democracy for all,” organizers said.

For those unable to march, they are asked to be at the gazebo in the Common. Parking is available at the college.

Ancestry program set for Saturday

SINCLAIRVILLE — Anecdotes and Ancestors with Tom Jordan on will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. A former Sinclairville resident Dr. Tom Jordan will present a few anecdotes about some of the characters in his family tree as told to him by his dearly departed relatives. Penhollows, Harpers, Torreys, Edsons, and McClarans may be interested in attending. Afterwards at Evergreen Cemetery view a few of the graves of those discussed and assist with collecting ground penetrating radar data across areas of interest. Tom Jordan, PhD, PG is Researcher and Part-Time Faculty, GIS Map Tech Specialist at Youngstown State University.

Vegetarian group meeting Sunday

WESTFIELD — The Chautauqua Vegetarian/Vegan Society’s October meeting is a tailgate party theme. It will be Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the YWCA in Westfield.

Bring your favorite Vegan snack and party foods. The Veg Society will provide baked potatoes and chili.

If you can, please bring a recipe for your dish and they’ll be typed up to make a party recipe guide. After the meal, we will hold a brief business meeting. Then we’ll play some Veggie Bingo for fun! The cost will be $2 if you bring a dish, or $6 without a dish.

CLCS sets special meeting Thursday

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua Lake Central School District shall have a special board meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Secondary Library. The meeting is for the purpose of the consideration of an intermunicipal agreement and a possible amendment to a contract of employment.
