Leaf collection underway in village

The village of Fredonia is actively collecting loose and bagged leaves throughout the Village. Loose leaves may be raked to the curb and bagged leaves placed at the curb. No brush or limbs will be collected at this time. Residents are reminded they may bring yard waste to 176 Eagle St., Department of Public Works.

Veterans Remembrance Ceremony at SUNY Fredonia

The State University of New York at Fredonia Office of Veterans Affairs will host its annual Veterans Remembrance Ceremony.

The observance, on Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room, is free and open to the community.

The event provides a forum through which the university and surrounding community gather to remember, honor and show gratitude to the countless men and women who have served the U.S. through the many branches of the Armed Forces.

A highlight of the event is the presentation of the annual SUNY Fredonia Veterans Scholarship, the Courage and Honor Scholarship and the Ronald L. and Marilyn Denison Scholarship, all made possible through gifts to the Fredonia College Foundation.
