Club Associates meets in city

On Dec. 14, the Club Associates met at the Kosciuszko Club in Dunkirk. Vice President Mike Curtain welcomed the Associates to their club.

The meeting started with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a moment of silence for all deceased club members. Two officers were excused and one club was absent.

Secretary Jim Pryll read the minutes from the previous meeting, followed by the treasurer’s report by Tom Halicki. Election of officers was held.

The next meeting will be at the Elks Club in Dunkirk at 6 p.m. Jan. 31. For more information contact your club representatives.

Legion Auxiliary holds monthly meeting

CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 held its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Dec. 9 with 13 senior members attending.

Correspondence was read with thank you notes from the two local food pantries for donations. Paula Pattison reported we recently held two funeral luncheons, and she continues to send get well and sympathy cards as needed.

Unit 1280’s 2026 membership is currently at 68% paid for the year; dues are $30,and can be paid by mail at 228 Maple Avenue/Cassadaga 14718, or they can be paid at the Post.

Finance chairperson Lauren Sharp organized a collection and delivered items and monetary donations to the Blue Star Mothers for their holiday packages being sent to the Troops stationed overseas.

The Post has a Christmas Eve gathering planned, a New Year’s Eve “ball drop” party, and Bingo on New Year’s Day. The next Unit meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Legion Post. All members are encouraged to attend, to help our mission to help the veterans and community.

St. Joseph’s bingo canceled

St. Joseph’s bingo in Fredonia will be canceled Tuesdays, Dec. 23 and Dec. 31. Bingo will resume Jan. 6.

Brocton plans special meeting Jan. 7

BROCTON — The village of Brocton will be holding a special meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Village Hall, 34 W. Main St. for the sole purpose of opening bids on a used tanker truck.
