‘Valentine’ candle,

bake sale Saturday

If you are looking for a homemade treat to give your Valentine, there will be a selection of handmade soy-wax candles and baked goods available on Saturday, Valentine’s Day, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua at 222 Temple St. in Fredonia, from noon to 3 p.m.

Donations will be used to defray postage for postcards being sent to voters to encourage voter turnout in the upcoming primaries and November election.

Saturday is the deadline for registering or changing party affiliation in order to vote in the primary of the party of your choice. The Board of Elections in Mayville will observe special hours that day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If submitted through the state Department of Motor Vehicles, it must be in by 2 p.m. Friday. Registration changes, including party affiliation, must be made by completing a new voter registration form, available in libraries and post offices for mailing; but by going online to www.votechautauqua.com, forms and links to portals can be found for a quicker process. Online registration changes must be received before midnight Saturday.
