City police
issue warning on vehicle thefts
The Dunkirk Police Department has seen an increase in the amount of vehicle entries, vehicle thefts and attempted vehicle thefts within the past month. The Dunkirk Police Department is reminding City residents to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables from their vehicles. The primary vehicle makes being targeted are Kia and Hyundai, however are not limited to those vehicle makes. The Dunkirk Police Department urges City residents to contact the Police Department with any suspicious activity; callers may remain anonymous if they wish.
VFW Auxiliary holds meeting
SHERIDAN — The Sheridan VFW Auxiliary met at the post on Monday. Members discussed the upcoming bingo and decided to table the activity until next month. Two members will be attending the District Convention on April 25. There will be an opening ceremony and district meeting followed by a luncheon.
The convention will take place at the VFW in Mayville. All members were given their end of the year reports to do for their assignments. Members resolved to sell meat sticks at the bar as patrons have been requesting them. We will do this in addition to the sale of candy bars which is ongoing. A 250th anniversary American flag was presented to the post by the auxiliary and will be displayed at the post. The group always in search of new members. Sons of Revolution meet Saturday
STOCKTON — The Chautauqua County Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be meeting on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the Stockton Hotel. The meeting will be an update on the Pomeroy foundation marker programs scheduled for 2026, and an update on the America 250 planning, particularly the History Expo scheduled for Aug. 2 in Mayville. All members are encouraged to attend, as well as prospective members and friends interested in American and Chautauqua County history.
Sunday Family Breakfast planned
Forest Lodge 166 F&AM will be holding its monthly Sunday Family Breakfast this weekend, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This all-you-can-eat breakfast will consist of eggs made to order, pancakes or French Toast, sausages, fruit cocktail, juice, milk, coffee and tea. Adults and teenagers 13 and up $13, children 5 to 12, $6. Kids under 5 are free. This breakfast is open to the public, and everyone is welcome and cordially invited to attend. Anyone with interests in, or has questions about Free Masonry will be given a tour of the building at the asking. Forest Lodge is located at 321 E. Main St., Fredonia.
