Village planning brush pickup
starting Monday
The village of Fredonia will be picking up limbs and yard waste beginning Monday at 7 a.m. Collection will continue until every village street has been completed. Bags and brush are collected separately by different crews. All items for collection must be at the curb no later than 7 Monday morning. In no case will there be a repeat collection of areas completed.
All yard waste must be bagged or in barrels The village encourages biodegradable bags or barrels and all limbs and brush be tied with twine.
Limbs and brush must be cut no longer than 4 feet in length with bundles being no larger than 18 inches in diameter. Bundles and bags are limited to 65 pounds in weight. There is no collection of loose material. No loose leaves will be picked up.
Residents also are reminded that they can bring yard waste to 176 Eagle St. No bags or containers shall be left behind.
Mayville Seniors meet again Thursday
MAYVILLE — Forty happy traditionalists and baby boomers met at the Mayville VFW Post 8647 March 19 to enjoy each other’s company and the potluck that comes from great cooks. Invocation was by Dianne Goodrich and after lunch the meeting was called to order by President Robin Carr. The Lord’s Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance was led by Goodrich and said in unison. Treasurer Kathie Sukalac, gave the treasurers report and motion to accept was made by Tom DeJoe and seconded by Nancy Peters.
Goodwill Chairperson, Linda Anderson, keeps up on members birthdays and get-well needs sending out five birthday cards and one get-well card. The group acknowledged the following birthdays: Kathie Sukalac, Roberta Rosage, Bill Tornstrom, Arlene Kurtz and Bonnie L. Johnson.
Tour Director Carr announced a trip April 14, the Enchanted Mountain Excursion. Call Carr for details: 716-230-4081.
Program Chairman, Bill Tornstrom, announced Nick Andriaccio will be April’s program speaking on the Mayville Ice Castle.
The Kitchen Committee: Bonnie J. Johnson, Joyce Ayers and Karen Heston were thanked for making the buffet tables organized, coffee made and tables set.
Announcements were made by Carr for the Tree Program at the Mayville Library starting April 4 and proceeding for next four Saturdays, from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Participants must register at the Mayville Library for this community hands-on experience.
Door prizes were won by Priscilla Farber, Chip Winchell, Eric Kreidler, Karen Hurlburt, Ernest Farber, Darlene Harper, Peg Skillman, Louise Richir, Dale Davis, Sharon Plucinski, Maureen Davis, Annabel Weise, Sukalac, Carr, Rosage, Anderson and DeJoe.
Lottery was won by Dolly Gilbert. The next meeting is Thursday with beef on weck provided and members obliged to bring side dishes.
Motion to adjourn was made by Lois Maloy and seconded by Rosage.
