Sons of Revolution meet Saturday

STOCKTON — The Chautauqua Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will be meeting Saturday at the Stockton Hotel, Stockton New York. The meeting begins at 12:30 p.m. We hope to have updates on the Patriot Marker Program and the History Expo coming up this summer. The Sons of the American Revolution is a lineage society for those who can trace their ancestry to the Patriots who fought for freedom or otherwise supported the fight for liberty. If you are interested in becoming a member, or have an interest in our country’s history, you are invited to join us.

Fred Basket lists hours for month

On Saturday, May 16, Fred Basket previously known as The Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. until noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Avenue. Additionally, on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Guests may only receive one helping a month. These new hours hope to serve those who cannot attend on Saturdays the food pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, ZIP code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.

Boating safety classes being offered

If your boat has a motor, you must carry a state Boating Safety Certificate. Kayaks, canoes and paddleboards aren’t required to have this certificate but all other boat operators must have one. Children under 10 are not permitted to get a certificate.

Bemus Point-Stow Ferry Pilot. USCG Auxillary and a state Safe Boating Instructor volunteer Mary Margaret Wagner will be leading a full class of 60 students to take the Boaters Safety Class at The Lawson Center Saturday.

Typically in person classes cost $35-$40. Some online courses charge $50. Unless you are under 18, the state requires a fee for the actual certificate.

Library holding telegraph training

STOCKTON — The Seymour Memorial Library, Stockton Branch, is having a telescope training event on Thursday at 7 p.m. in conjunction with the Martz-Kohl Observatory. This is to help people learn how to use our telescopes that are available for loan at both the Stockton and Cassadaga Branches all year.

Gowanda Pine Hill Cemetery Association to meet

The annual meeting of Gowanda Pine Hill Cemetery Association will be held Saturday, May 9 at 10 a.m., at the cemetery. The rain location will be the Gowanda Municipal Building, 27 East Main St. Lot owners and the general public are welcome. Please bring your own chair.
