Central Ave. paving set for week
Central Avenue in Fredonia will be closed for paving from Forbes place to the Temple Street intersection on Monday and Tuesday beginning at 7 a.m. until completion each day. If you have any questions please call the Streets Department at 716-679-2304.

Chicken barbecue set for Sunday
FORESTVILLE — A Mother’s Day chicken barbecue will be at the Forestville United Methodist Church on Sunday.
Drive up to the front of the church and organizers will bring your meals to you. For $15, you will get a half chicken, potato salad, tossed salad, bread and dessert.
It will begin at noon and continue until dinners have sold out. It is located at 3 Park St.
Ascension Day to be celebrated
WESTFIELD — Ascension Day will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Westfield on Thursday at 7 p.m. The service is being sponsored by St. Peter’s Church and St. St. John’s Episcopal Church of Dunkirk.
Ascension Day is the day 40 days after Easter recognized by the Christian church as the day Jesus ascended, returning to Heaven. In those 40 days, he appeared to his followers, continuing to teach them to fulfill the mission.
Ascension Day marks the end of Jesus’s post-Resurrection appearances.
The Rev. Luke Fodor of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Jamestown, Dean of the Chautauqua County Episcopal Deanery will be the officiant. Deacon Pat Guinn of St. Peter’s will be Assisting Deacon.
St. Peter’s is located at 12 Elm St. All are welcome to attend.
Lakeshore Humane Society sets monthly meeting
