County Health board meets May 21

MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Board of Health will hold their bimonthly meeting on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 6 p.m. in the HRC Building, Fourth Floor Conference Room, 7 N. Erie St. in Mayville.

Comments received from the public will be accepted as communications, and not read during privilege of the floor. Public comments at the meetings during the privilege of the floor must be made in person.

Genealogical Society to hear speaker May 20

CASSADAGA — The Chautauqua County Genealogical Society will meet at the Cassadaga American Legion Post 1280 on Wednesday, May 20. The Business Meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. and the speaker at 7. Topic for the evening will be, “How to Use Funeral Home Records for Genealogical and Family Research.” David Dengler, Funeral Director for the Larson-Timko Funeral Home in Fredonia will be the presenter. Breakfast, auxiliary meeting planned

A Chautauqua County Joint Veterans Council Breakfast meeting will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Frewsburg post. On Tuesday, the American Legion Unit 62 Auxiliary meeting will be at 6 p.m. in Post 62 Dunkirk.

Candidates forum planned for May 23

The League of Women Voters of Chautauqua will hold a candidate forum for the 23rd district House of Representatives seat for the Democratic Party. The forum will take place on May 23 at 6 p.m. at the Fredonia Grange.

The Grange is located at 58 West Main St., Fredonia.

The forum will feature Kevin Stocker from Tonawanda and Aaron Gies of Olean. Only candidates whose names appear on the Chautauqua County Board of Elections primary ballot may participate in this event.
