Chicken barbecue planned for Tuesday
There will be a chicken barbecue on Tuesday, June 2 at the D&F Plaza in Dunkirk beginning at 11:30 a.m. until sold out sponsored by Forestville Chapter 247 Order of the Eastern Star. Cost is $15 per dinner or $10 for chicken only.
Brush pickup planned in village
The village of Fredonia will be picking up limbs and yard waste beginning Monday at 7 a.m. Collection will continue until every village street has been completed.
Bags and brush are collected separately by different crews. All items for collection must be at the curb no later than 7 Monday morning. In no case will there be a repeat collection of areas completed.
All yard waste must be bagged or in barrels. The village encourages the use of biodegradable bags or barrels and all limbs and brush must be tied with twine.
Limbs and brush must be cut no longer than 4 feet in length with bundles being no larger than 18 inches in diameter. Bundles and bags are limited to 65 pounds in weight. There is no collection of loose material. No loose leaves or branches will be picked up.
Residents are reminded that they can bring yard waste to 176 Eagle St. No bags or containers shall be left behind.
Steel retirees group meets June 6
The Al Tech / Dunkirk Specialty Steel Retirees will meet on Saturday, June 6 at 8:30 a.m. at Central Station Restaurant in Dunkirk. All retirees are invited to attend. The group meets the first Saturday of every month.
Steam Station picnic set for Tuesday
The annual Dunkirk Steam Station Picnic will be held Tuesday at the large pavilion at Point Gratiot. It begins at noon.
Forestville plans community yard sales
FORESTVILLE — Forestville will hold their community yard sales on June 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents may sign up at Cave’s Market.Cost is $5 per household. List of sale locations will be available at Cave’s on the day of sales.
