Fred Basket lists hours for month
On Saturday, June 20, Fred Basket previously known as The Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Ave. Additionally, it is open on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Guests may only receive one helping a month. These new hours hope to serve those who cannot attend on Saturdays the food pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, ZIP code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona.
All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.

Brocton Portland Seniors meet
BROCTON — Brocton Portland Seniors met May 26 at Brocton American Legion, opened by President Anita Calcaterra welcoming 56 members.
Rose Giambra shared the Prayer of Thanks followed by Laurel Giambra leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Calcaterra, Carol Hussey, Denise Spiller, Marie Emke, Doug Chatley, Myrna Pugh, Linda Miller, Linda Janes, Bonnie Bradley set up tables and served the Luncheon catered by KFC delicious original chicken, coleslaw, biscuits, mashed potatoes, gravy and lava cake!! Harmony Production Company Men’s Quartet entertained with ” Cinderallo” stories and song after the meeting. Secretary minutes were read and approved by Linda Burton and Tom DeJoe. Treasurer report approved by Patti Farrell and June Woollett. Brian Stanton is the Utility Manager!
Ahira Hall Library newsletter lists dates June, July and August; many events include Farmers Market June 12 at Ryckman Park and concerts July 9. The Portland Fire Department’s Annual Chicken BBQ is June 7 noon till gone. Birthdays for May celebrated by Doug Chatley, Patti Farrell, Judy Moffett, Bonnie Bradley. Door prizes went to Linda Riley and Todd McClenathan.
Gorgeous flower center pieces crafted by Anita Calcaterra were won by twenty delighted folks. There were 14 raffle winners. The next meeting, June 30, is strawberry shortcake by the desert committee gals Margaret Jagoda, Rita Bennett, June Woollett and Sharon Carlson.
Committee is Cecelia Filipkowski, Brenda Drummond, Denise Griffin, Nancy Renckens and Nancy Hayden. For the Pot Luck, members bring a dish to share and personal table service. The meeting starts at 10:45am followed by luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30.
