SUNY sponsors two ‘Great Wednesdays’

The State University of New York at Fredonia will be sponsoring two of the “8 Great Wednesdays in the Park” put on by Festivals Fredonia.

The free, family-friendly concert series will run every Wednesday in Barker Common from July 1 through Aug. 19. Preshow activities will start at 5:30 p.m. and the music will be on from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

SUNY Fredonia, which is celebrating 200 years, is sponsoring the July 8 Americana Night with Unknown Legends night and Blues Night with Jeff Fetterman on Aug. 19.

Each week will feature pre-show activities including art, dance lessons, and more from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Local food vendors will offer their items and there will be hot dogs fresh off the grill. Beverages will be available from local alcohol

City library budget approved, Bradley and Green join board

The Dunkirk Public Library has released the results of its annual vote, held June 16.

Voters approved the library’s proposed operating budget of $469,163. Truman Bradley and Norm Green were also elected to each serve a three-year term on the library Board of Trustees, commencing July 1 and ending June 30, 2029. They will fill the seats of outgoing trustees Marybeth Muldowney and Terri Sutherland.
