Trinity United Church of Christ free community meal
The Trinity United Church, located at Erie Avenue and Park Street, Gowanda, will host a take-out only free community meal at the Park Street entrance on Saturday, July 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. or gone. Drive East Main to Railroad Avenue and then down Park Street, following the signs, or walk up. The menu is grilled chicken, rice medley, tossed salad, bread and cookie. Free will donations are appreciated but not necessary. All donations are used to help other organizations in the Gowanda community. Everyone is welcome. The next meal is Aug 8.
Silver Creek Senior Citizens meet
SILVER CREEK – The Silver Creek Seniors met on June 23 with 23 people in attendance.
President Randy Nurmi opened the meeting with all saying the Pledge of Allegiance and singing God Bless America. Lunch consisted of strawberry shortcakes. Thank you to Don and Kim Munch for donating the strawberries and Lorrie Newman for donating the biscuits. The winners of the door prizes were Harry Suski and John Czuba. (Note: This was the last time the group will be doing the gifts). The 50-50 winners were Jan Polisoto, Wayne Hotelling and Annette Hoeber. Wheel of fortune lucky winners included Lorrie (twice), Al Wilson (twice), Ginny Chesbro and Carol Struwe. Elaine Wojda called bingo and the winners were: Ruth Sheeler, John, Harry, Kim, Mark Langer, Earl Sheeler, Carol, Jeanne Blakely, Al, Wayne, Lorrie and Jan.
Tuesday the men will grill hot dogs and the group will also have salads and desserts. Note: The group will meet at 12:20 p.m. for an exercise session before lunch.
This senior group meets every Tuesday. Call Lorrie for information at 716-785-1074. The group is inviting everyone 55 years of age or older to come and join in the fun.
