No auxiliary meeting this month

CASSADAGA – The Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary does not meet in July. Our next meeting will be a pot-luck picnic, held at the Post, Tuesday August 11, 6 pm in the hall, with a short meeting to follow.

Brocton plans music in park Thursday

BROCTON — Grab a chair or blanket and join residents at Ryckman Park for an evening of great music. This event begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and is part of the Ahira Hall Memorial Library’s Summer Programming and is sponsored in memory of Ed and Peg Sunday who always loved the Concerts in the Park. Northern Chautauqua choir performs Sunday

DERBY — Graycliff will host the Northern Chautauqua Community Choir for a performance of Creation by Dan Forrest.

Published in 2023 to mark the 225th anniversary of Joseph Haydn’s masterpiece of the same name, Forrest’s work offers a fresh and inspiring interpretation of the creative story. Blending a rich variety of texts and musical influences, Creation unfolds across twelve movements for choir, soloists, and chamber orchestra. Forrest’s signature style – both accessible and deeply expressive – brings the wonder and beauty of the creative process vividly to life. Widely praised for its universal appeal, the work has already seen frequent performances across the United States and Europe.

Doors open at 3 p.m., with the performance beginning promptly at 4 in Graycliff’s new Visitor Center. Guests are invited to enjoy Open House tours of Graycliff from 3 to 4 p.m., included in the ticket price.

No outside food/drink permitted. Beverages (including wine and beer) and snacks will be available for purchase. Please arrive early to choose your ideal seat.

Celebrated throughout Chautauqua County, the Northern Chautauqua Community Choir is dedicated to fostering connection through joyful music-making and championing the work of living composers. This special performance of Creation also marks the culmination of the ensemble’s 10th season.
