VFW Auxiliary sets upcoming plans
SHERIDAN — The VFW Auxiliary of Sheridan Post 6390 met on Monday. During its meeting several items were discussed. Members’ dues are payable starting now and no later than Dec. 31.
The next District 6 meeting will be on Sept. 12 starting at 11 a.m. There will be a veterans’ dinner at the post sometime in October and the auxiliary will offer assistance with that. Sept. 19 is the date of a gun raffle.
For the future, the auxiliary discussed having a bingo at the post in February when people need a little, fun diversion. Our next meeting will be Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. at the home of one of the members. In September the group will resume having meetings at the Post at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of the month.
‘Beyond the Box’ event set for Thursday
JAMESTOWN — Operation Christmas Child will be hosting a “Beyond the Box” event on Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Kidder Memorial Church, 385 S. Main St.
Todd and Vickie LeRoy, longtime Area Coordinators, will be sharing what happens “beyond the box” for everyone who packs a shoebox, along with their vision and goals for this year.
Attendees will be able to see Operation Christmas Child’s impact on children and communities around the world and learn how they can help OCC make a greater impact, yet.
Residents are invited to join, and to invite others who are passionate about OCC: a project leader, a friend, or a church that also loves to pack Christmas Child gift shoe boxes.
Learn more about Operation Christmas Child and how you can help in blessing the children around the world with gifts and the gospel this year.
