CVCS plans special meeting

A special meeting of the Board of Education of the Cassadaga Valley Central School District will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Middle/High School Multipurpose Room.

Fred Basket lists hours for month

On Saturday, Aug. 15, Fred Basket previously known as The Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. until noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Ave., and additionally, on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Guests may only receive one helping a month. These new hours hope to serve those who cannot attend on Saturdays the food pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, ZIP code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.

Brocton Portland Seniors meet

BROCTON -- Brocton Portland Seniors met July 28 at Brocton American Legion with Anita Calcaterra, President, welcoming 60 members. New members introduced were Richard Earle and Judy Loomis.

Prayer of Thanks was by Clara Wilder and the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Judy Fingerhut, were shared. Picnic Committee consisted of Tom DeJoe with Doug Chatley, Brian Stanton, Laurel Giambra and Paul Briggs at the grill doing hot dogs and hamburgers. The gals Judy Fingerhut, Rita Bennett, Barb Crandall and Anita Calcaterra had centerpieces and candies decorating the tables.

From Office For Aging Services, Ellen Colesano, spoke about "Plan Finder Basics Medicare 101." The meeting will be on Aug. 18 at OFA in Jamestown, 107 Institute St with limited seating.

Ahira Hall Library concerts are Thursday, Aug. 6 and 13 at Ryckman Park at 6:30 p.m. Feed More Food Truck by Ahira Library is also at Ryckman Park Aug. 14 and 28.

Cards were filled out by members and will be sent to Nursing Homes and Veterans. Raffle will continue as unchanged majority passed. Jim and Duane Hemmis celebrated their 35-year anniversary! Birthdays celebrated by Elaine Frederickson, Nancy Hayden, Brian Stanton, Jim Hemmis, Linda Burton.

New meeting time is 11 a.m. Door prizes were won by Nancy Hayden and new member Richard Earl. Drawings for table items won by eighteen winners and eight raffle winners. The next meeting is Aug. 25 with Committee Chip Winchell, Becky Dalziel, Jim and Duane Hemmis. Bingo will be played with items from folks. Members need to bring personal table service, and a dish to share for the Pot Luck luncheon.
