Church plans prayers for city
Iglesia Pentecostal Dios Con Nosotros, Inc. will be hosting a Faith Revival Night on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the church parking lot on 19 Ruggles St., Dunkirk. We will be praying over our city after all the negativity that has been transpiring. Come out and listen to the positive word of God.
Classic Car, Motorcycle Cruise-in planned
BROCTON -- The American Legion Post 434 will host a Classic Car and Motorcycle Cruise-in on Sunday, Aug. 16 from noon to 3 p.m. Proceeds will be going to the Chautauqua County Veterans Association and the event is in memory of Steve Woleben.
Jamestown walking tours set for Saturday
JAMESTOWN -- Lucille Ball was born in Jamestown and lived in various places returning to Jamestown in her teen years. Learn about her downtown stories on the tour that begins at the Fenton History Center at 10 a.m. Saturday. The tour guide is Joni Blackman, Executive Director of the Fenton History Center.
The other tour is of three churches in Jamestown. Beginning at the Jamestown Free Methodist church on 515 E. Seventh St. and traveling to the First Congregational and First Presbyterian churches. The tour begins at 10 a.m. and the tour guide is Cindy Dustin, a volunteer with the Fenton History Center.
The Fenton History Center conducts historic walking tours from June to August. The cost is $8 for members and $12 for non-members. Participants can pre-register online, at the Fenton, or by phone at 716-664-6256. There is a limit of 20 people for each tour.
Historic Society open Fridays
BUSTI -- The Busti Historic Society campus that includes the 1836 mill, 1846 Miller’s house and the museum are open every Friday from 10 to 4 p.m. If you have only been to the Busti Historical Society during the annual Busti Apple Harvest Festival, then you need to visit when it is a little less busy. Come see the grounds without the crowds. Admission is by donation. Large groups, or those wishing to see the mill in action can make plans to visit by calling 716-483-3670 or emailing bustihistorical.edu@gmail.com
The Kids Day Program is on Friday, Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon. Children (and a parent or guardian) 10 and under who are home schooled, or just off for the summer are invited to tour the museum, play historic games and make a craft. The cost is $10 per student. Historic Skills and Craft classes are offered monthly. The August class is Beginner Weaving. The class is this Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. Cost for the class is $25 per person, $20 for BHS members. Supplies are included. Please email bustihistorical.edu@gmail.com to register. Students 12 to adult are welcome to join us. Classes are held in the meeting room of the museum building. Preregistration is required. The Busti Historical Society is located at 3443 Lawson Road, Jamestown.
