Card-making class planned Sept. 5
SOUTH DAYTON -- On Saturday, Sept. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon there will be a card making class at the Village of South Dayton’s Depot Museum by Barb Nobles and Donna Snyder. Make and take 4 cards for $10. The class limit is 10. To sign up, call Karen Strickland 716-988-5076. On Saturday mornings, the Farmers’ Market sets up from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. next to the Depot.
Name of Busti part of talk Sunday
BUSTI -- Local historian John Everett Jones will speak Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Busti Historical Society about the Polish and Italian connections to the Holland Land Company and how Busti got its name. All are invited to come learn how Western New York was settled and the man Busti is named after. The talk will be in the outdoor pavilion. Please bring a chair and your questions. Free parking and admission. The event will be held rain or shine.
Roadkill Bingo set for Dunkirk Elks
Roadkill Bingo -- it's a meat raffle with cards -- will be at Dunkirk Elks Lodge, 428 Central Ave., on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6.
It is played with a set of three cards, while the caller uses a deck of cards. The caller announces the card, and you match the card with the cards in your set. The winner gets one of the approximately 60 pieces of beef, pork, chicken, ham or ribs.
Admission, which includes coffee, tea or water and desert and one set of cards is $5. Additional sets of cards are $3. For $20, one can get admission plus six sets of cards.
