Rabies Vaccination Clinic Scheduled For Sept. 17 In Ripley
RIPLEY – The Chautauqua County Health Department and town of Ripley will host a rabies vaccination clinic from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Ripley town highway building, 50 Ross St., Ripley. Animals must be pre-registered to receive vaccinations. Vaccinations will be provided free of charge to all dogs, cats, and domesticated ferrets three months of age and older. Pre-registration is required and should be submitted online by visiting HealthyCHQ.com/Rabies and view the calendar for upcoming clinics. There are a limited number of spots available, so pet owners should pre-register online as soon as possible. Those who register but decide not to attend the event are asked to cancel their appointment so the spot is available for another pet. Appointments can be canceled via the confirmation email received after registering. Pet owners must bring previous rabies vaccination records for each animal receiving a shot to ensure proper and effective vaccination; clinic staff will confirm previous rabies vaccination records. All dogs must be on a leash. All cats and ferrets must be in individual carriers. Animal handlers will transport animals to the veterinarian for vaccination.
County Legion Auxiliary meets Thursday
LAKEWOOD - Chautauqua County American Legion Auxiliary Meeting will be on Thursday at Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 with dessert at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7. Unit 1286 will conduct the OCW Raffle. The County directories will be distributed and the annual Department Auxiliary lottery calendar fundraiser will be available for purchase. Units are encouraged to have a representative in attendance to discuss initiatives for the upcoming year.
United Senior Citizens to gather
Members of United Senior Citizens met at the Falcon Club, 341 Lakeshore Drive East, Dunkirk, for August’s luncheon that was deliciously prepared.
Attendees enjoyed two kinds of sausages: Polish (with rye bread) and Italian (with peppers, onions and roll), authentic German potato salad (kostlich), broccoli and tossed salad. The dessert was cupcakes with cherry topping.
President Evonne Hennebery led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of God Bless America. A prayer of thanksgiving was offered by member Robin Carr and after lunch bingo was enjoyed by many members. Callers were Lucy Saeli and Rosemary Mancuso.
There were five August birthday recipients: Tom DeJoe, Dorothy Derby, Brenda Drummond, Deb Messere and Marsha Sullivan.The group sang the hearty “Happy Birthday” song but never can unify on the “dear so and so.” May I suggest we all just say: “Happy Birthday dear seniors..” Just a suggestion of course!
The next luncheon will be Monday at noon, at the Falcon Club. Lunch will be baked chicken, breaded pork chop, mashed potato (gravy on side), mixed vegetables and tossed salad.
