South Dayton lists weekend events

SOUTH DAYTON -- On Saturday, Fall along the Amish Trail will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the South Dayton Depot. Depot T-shirts will be on sale. From 1 to 2 p.m. at the Depot, enjoy tea and cookies with Missy Stearns and Karen Strickland, learn about the life of Betsy Ross.

On Sunday, the South Dayton Volunteer Fire Department will hold their Fall Tractor Pull starting at noon.

Refreshments will be on sale by the Firebelles. Bring your lawn chair, enjoy a family fun afternoon.

Brush collection begins Monday in village

The village of Fredonia will be picking up limbs and yard waste beginning Monday at 7 a.m. Collection will continue until every village street has been completed. Bags and brush are collected separately by different crews. All items for collection must be at the curb no later than 7 Monday morning. In no case will there be a repeat collection of areas completed.

All yard waste must be bagged or in barrels. Limbs and brush must be cut no longer than 4 feet with bundles being no longer than 18 inches in diameter. There is no collection of loose leaves or branches.

Operation Christmas Child to meet

Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child, an international ministry to children, will be hosting a workshop on Saturday from 3 to 4 p.m., at Kidder Memorial Global Methodist Church at 381 S. Main Street in Jamestown. This workshop will update area shoebox packers, Project Leaders, and others on current best practices as well as provide information on the impact, reach and recent shoebox numbers for Operation Christmas Child. Free pre-printed boxes, along with other OCC literature will be available for distribution.

Health Board to meet Thursday

The Chautauqua County Board of Health will hold their bi-monthly meeting on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the HRC Building, Fourth Floor Conference Room, 7 N. Erie St. in Mayville.

Comments received from the public will be accepted as communications, and not read during privilege of the floor. Public comments at the meetings during the privilege of the floor must be made in person.

Library plans Saturday authors, zoo

SINCLAIRVILLE -- The community is invited to the Sinclairville Free Library on Saturday to meet local authors from 1 to 3 p.m. during this year's History Fair. Some of the creative people you will meet: J. Andersen, author of "At What Cost" and the Destiny by Design series; Sarah Bless “Adventures with Dad"; Holly Beatrice Bless "Popcorn Ceilings: A Collection of Poems"; Ann Brantingham (artist) and books by the late John Brantingham; AK Coulter "Windblown"; Sally Ferguson (multiple publications); and Paul Leone "One Hundred and Fifty-Four Sonnets" and "The Marlow Murder."

Other special events at the library on Saturday include: The Erie Outreach Traveling Zoo program and face painting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
