Bills Booster Club gathers Sunday
The Southern Tier Bills Booster Club will watch the Buffalo Bills vs. Houston Texans game on Sunday at the First Ward Falcon Club in Dunkirk.Game time is 1 p.m. Subs will be provided at halftime. Members may bring a dish to pass.
Raffle sales benefit Ringler scholarship awards
The first South Shore Rod & Gun Club Dean Ringler Senior Award gun raffle took place on Aug. 9. Karen McDonald DeLeon was drawn as the winner of this year’s raffle.
Proceeds from the raffle ticket sales directly fund the Dean Ringler Senior Award. This year, five local high school seniors were selected to each receive $2,000 to assist with their post-graduation endeavors. The recipients are as follows: Giada Kirell, Dunkirk High School; Liam McQuiggan, Dunkirk High School; Anthony Mitchell, Brocton High School; Gianna Leone Novelli, Fredonia High School and Jasiret Orsini, LoGudice BOCES.
The South Shore Rod & Gun Club extends a sincere thank you to everyone in the community who purchased tickets, as well as the many individuals and establishments throughout the area that sold tickets and/or donated money to support this award that assists our local youth in continuing their career goals.
Computer classes set at Dunkirk Public Library
The Dunkirk Public Library, 536 Central Ave., has announced computer classes for September, including: More Than Just a Library Card on Sept. 15 from 1 to 2 p.m.; Ancestry Library Edition on Sept. 17 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.; Monitoring Your Subscriptions on Sept. 23 from 1 to 2 p.m.; Using Tele-Health Services on Sept. 29 from 1 to 2 p.m.

Sheridan church plans chicken barbecue
SHERIDAN -- The Sheridan United Methodist Church will hold its annual Chicken Barbecue Fundraiser on Saturday September 26, from noon till 4 p.m., or until sold out. The barbecue will be provided on site by Chiavetta’s, 2679 Route 20 in Sheridan, and is drive-through take out only.

Fred Basket sets monthly hours
On Saturday, Sept. 19 Fred Basket previously known as The Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. until noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Ave. Additionally, on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Guests may only receive one helping a month. These new hours hope to serve those who cannot attend on Saturdays the food pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, ZIP code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan and Laona.
All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.
SOAR meeting set for Sept. 22
SOAR Chapter 4-1 will meet Tuesday, Sept. 22 at USW Local 2693 Union Hall on Fourth Street in Dunkirk. The meeting will convene at noon with lunch to follow. All SOAR Members and retirees are invited to attend. For further information call 716-680-0502.
