NCCF breakfast set for Saturday
The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation (NCCF) invites the community to its annual Flapjack Breakfast and Basket Raffle Fundraiser on Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. at Applebee's on Vineyard Drive in Dunkirk.
This community event supports NCCF's Service Learning Grants Program, which provides grants to local teachers for classroom projects that connect learning with hands-on community service. Since its inception, the program has empowered students to learn by doing--building civic responsibility and strengthening community ties.
Breakfast tickets are $10 and available online at nccfoundation.org or at the door. The basket raffle, the highlight of the morning, features a variety of prizes donated by local businesses and supporters. Basket raffle tickets will be sold at the event for $10 per sheet of 25, along with two Premium Prize tickets for $5. Guests are welcome to participate in the raffle even if they don't attend breakfast.

Molitor, legislators to be at TEA meeting
JAMESTOWN -- State Assemblyman Andrew Molitor will be featured at the next meeting of the Southern Tier TEA Patriots on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at 1309 Norby Road. Also, county legislators Fred Larson and Fred Johnson will address the group together on county fiscal issues, like the debate on what to do with the reserve fund. Finally, Randy Barber will update the group on election integrity.
Legion Auxiliary talks coming events
CASSADAGA -- The Cassadaga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 met recently and held their first meeting of the year, with 14 members attending.
Opening prayer was given by Chaplain Paula Pattison, we held a moment of silence for those deceased, and Veterans. All committee chairs re-signed up for their respective committees for the year.
For Americanism, it was announced that out of the 250-plus flags in the Cassadaga Legion flag program, 82 flags are sponsored by Unit 1280 members. It was reported that our Cruise Night bake sales went very well over the summer, as well as the Legion, Auxiliary & Sons Chicken BBQ. Thank you to everyone that contributed to all of our events.
Post 1280, Auxiliary and Sons members participated in the Cassadaga Labor Day parade. The Unit recently held a funeral luncheon for the family and friends of Post 1280 veteran, Don Fowler. Unit 1280's membership dues for 2027 are now being accepted; your $30 can be mailed to Sally Lawson, 228 Maple Ave., Cassadaga, or you can stop by the Post to pay.
Unit 1280 is making plans for their annual Vendor Showcase Saturday, Oct. 24. Plans are also in the works for our Unit 1280 to hand out candy, books & crafts on Halloween, and with the SAL, a Veterans Day program in November.
The meeting was closed with a prayer from our Chaplain. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Post; all members are encouraged to attend, to help our mission to help our Veterans and community.
