Parks Commission meeting Thursday
JAMESTOWN -- The Chautauqua County Parks Commission will be meeting on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Chautauqua County airport conference room. The public is welcome to attend.
Oktoberfest planned for Oct. 3
BROCTON -- On Saturday, Oct. 3, the Brocton American Legion Post 434 will host the 3rd Annual Oktoberfest. There will be authentic German food, fun, and a stein holding competition. German music will be provided by the 'Polka Boyz, an original Hoffbrau Haus band.
This event is open to the public, so bring the family and friends for a fun day that begins with food at 1 p.m. and music from 3 to 7 p.m.
Mausoleum tours slated for Oct. 11
JAMESTOWN -- The Fenton History Center's Mausoleum and More tours of local Lake View Cemetery are Oct. 11 from 6:30 to 9 p.m., stepping off each half hour. The tours are about an hour long and feature a treat and warm cider at the end.
The Lake View Cemetery allows the Fenton History Center to use the cemetery to tell local history through the tours. "The mausoleum tours are growing every year," said Joni Blackman, Executive Director, "we have a full cast of actors to tell the history and life stories of the past residents interred in the mausoleums.
No other time is the public allowed to see inside the mausoleums.
The Fenton mausoleum will be featured, with the Governor and Mrs. Fenton telling their story." The Saints and Sinners Cemetery Tours and the Mausoleum and More Tours are the signature fundraising events for the Fenton History Center.
Sponsors are Rodgers Land Surveying, Weber Knapp, Ahlstrom Schaeffer, Jamestown Area Federal Credit union, FSC and Lind Funeral Home.
