League plans candidate forum Oct. 7
The League of Women Voters of Chautauqua County will hold a candidate forum on October 7, 2026 at 7 p.m. The forum will be held at the Opera House, 9 Church St., Fredonia. Candidates running for District 3 of the Chautauqua County Legislature will be attending. Those candidates are Robert Scudder and Michael Lee. Also, from District 1 will be Colby Garza. All are running for a seat in the Chautauqua County Legislature. Residents can submit questions to lwvcandidateforumquestions@gmail.com, Test only to 716-673-5197, or you can submit questions on paper at the event.

Silver Creek Senior Citizens meet
SILVER CREEK - The Silver Creek Seniors met on Sept. 22 with 25 members present. President Randy Nurmi opened the meeting with all saying the Pledge of Allegiance and singing God Bless America. Chaplain Pauline Flitt read "God's Presence" and offered a prayer for the members and for the lunch of sandwiches, salad and desserts.
The "sign in" winners were Joan Suski, Jay Clark and Eleanor Lemiszko. The 50-50 winners were Eleanor, Wayne Hotelling and Ginny Chesbro. Wheel of fortune lucky winners included Ruth Sheeler (3 times), Janice Snyder, Carol Struwe and Joan Militello. Elaine called bingo and the winners were: Ruth, Ginny, Annette Hoeber (twice), Carol Struwe, Lorrie Newman, Eleanor, Janice, Randy (twice), Al Wilson, Wayne, Joan S. and Pauline.
Tuesday's lunch will be hot dogs, salads and desserts. This senior group meets every Tuesday at 1 p.m.., arrive by 12:30 p.m. Call Lorrie for information at 716-785-1074. Note: The group is inviting everyone 55 years of age or older to come and join in the fun.
