Gun raffle aims at Oct. 17
Dunkirk Elks Lodge 922 will hold its fourth annual Gun Raffle on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Dunkirk Elks Lodge, 428 Central Ave.
Raffle starts at 6 p.m., doors open at 4. Winners need not be present to win. Tickets are good for one sandwich and other items including beverages are available for sale. Tickets are available from Elk members or at the Elk Lodge Bar from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays or during Bingo on Thursday nights from 5 to 9 p.m. Only one name per ticket. Gun Transfers by JJ Guns and winners must pass a background check. There are 9 gun packages, one crossbow package and three $200 cash prizes.

Coffee group meets Friday
Roblin Steel Coffee group will meet on Friday at the Crossroads Diner in Sheridan at 9 a.m. Former employees and family are invited to attend.
Apple Butter fest has plenty in store
Saturday is the April Butter Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will include vendors, food vendors with face painting for youth from 11 a.m. to noon free.
In addition, there will be free weatherization kits, drawings and giveaways. There will be a huge chinese auction with gift baskets, certificates, free pies and items for children. Drawing will be at 3 p.m. and you do not have to be present to win.
There will be fresh homemade apple butter, apples, grape pies and this year a lot of Luppa Henry’s Famous Home made Apple Pies to purchase or win. All Proceeds go to the Brocton Food Pantry to feed youth and adults in the northern Chautauqua County area, especially Brocton and Portland. The event is held on the Grounds of West Portland Baptist Church, on Route 20 three miles east of Westfield.
