Chicken barbecue planned for Saturday

The Fredonia Methodist Church will be hosting a Weidner’s Chicken Barbecue Fundraiser, drive-through style, on Saturday from 11 a.m until sold out. Presale tickets available in the church office $16 or by calling 716-679-1513. All proceeds to support the church’s ongoing missions. The church is located at 25 Church St. in Fredonia.

Auxiliary indoor yard sale is Saturday

The East Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary is having its annual indoor yard sale and vendor fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the East Dunkirk Fire Department at 10949 S. Roberts Road, Dunkirk. Multiple yard sale vendors with miscellaneous items, crafting supplies, sports memorabilia, and vendors for Tastefully Simple and Paparazzi jewelry will be on hand. A basket raffle, lottery ticket raffle, 50-50 and refreshments will also be available. Please come and support a local fire auxiliary.

Fred Basket sets hours for month

On Saturday, Oct. 17, Fred Basket previously known as The Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. until noon at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Ave., and additionally, on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Guests may only receive one helping a month. These new hours hope to serve those who cannot attend Saturdays. The food pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, ZIP code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.

Candidate forum planned for Wednesday

The League of Women Voters of Chautauqua County will hold a candidate forum on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The forum will be at the Opera House, 9 Church St., Fredonia. Candidates running for District 3 of the Chautauqua County Legislature will be attending. Those candidates are Robert Scudder and Michael Lee. Also, from District 1 will be Colby Garza. All are running for a seat in the Chautauqua County Legislature.
