County Legion Auxiliary meets Thursday
The Chautauqua County American Legion Auxiliary Meeting will be held at the J. Carter Knapp Post 953 in Forestville on Thursday. Dessert at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7. Empire Girls State quotas for 2027 will be taken and all units are encouraged to send a representative for the roll call. Auxiliary members are invited to meet and welcome distinguished guests, Eighth District Auxiliary President Suzanne Wesley and 1st Vice President Rosemary O’Connell.
Dance event planned Oct. 17 in Gowanda
GOWANDA -- Come dance the night away at the Gowanda Moose. The family-friendly event, featuring music by 2nd Time Around will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Gowanda Moose, 201 Aldrich St. It is $10 per person and $25 per family. Food and beverage available for purchase, basket raffle and 50-50.
Towel bingo planned for Saturday
FORESTVILLE -- Forestville Order of the Eastern Star is having towel bingo Saturday at the Forestville Masonic Lodge. Doors open at noon, games begin at 1 p.m. Refreshments served. Fun for all ages
Men's ministry event set for Saturday
BEMUS POINT - The Chautauqua Lake Men of Integrity is holding a Promise Keepers event on Saturday titled "Wake Up Call." The celebration is for men of all ages and runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bemus Point Methodist Church, 4954 Bemus-Ellery Rd. Speakers include Shane Winnings, Keenan Clark, Joshua Broome, and Jacob Coyne. Worship will be led by Jhauon Harrison. Cost is $45 per person, which includes lunch. Audubon admission free on Monday
Audubon Community Nature Center building admission is free on Monday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in celebration of Indigenous Peoples' Day, to honor and commemorate their histories and cultures.
In addition to the indoor Nature Play Area, you can enjoy interactive displays, a collection of live animals, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Outdoors, the nearly 600-acre nature preserve is always free, dawn to dusk, where you can check in on the live birds of prey, enjoy the native tree arboretum, gardens, outdoor Nature Play Area, and hike the six miles of trails.
