Mayville Seniors To Meet Oct. 15

MAYVILLE – The Mayville Senior Citizens will meet at noon Oct. 15 at the Mayville VFW for a pot luck luncheon. Members met recently with 32 members attending. November's harvest dinner will probably cost about $15 per person. Sign-ups for this dinner will take place at the next meeting. It was voted to have a 50/50 drawing at meetings to add to our treasury. Exact details will be decided later. Door prizes were won by Arlene Kurtz, Kathie Sukalac, Fran Miller, Janet Loomis, and Bonnie J. Johnson. The $5 lottery was won by Janet Loomis. After the meeting adjourned, Sheriff Jim Quattrone spoke about programs aside from the usual patrols and duties carried out on a daily basis by deputies that include the relatively new Cold Case team, an animal cruelty deputy, Drone Team, collaboration with Homeland Security (mostly regarding human trafficking), CARES, an outreach program for newly released prisoners; Project Life Saver, and others. Deputy Kris Gustafson discussed Project Life Saver, a free program for individuals who, because of physical or mental issues, might be prone to wandering. The program offers the person a bracelet to be worn at all times which makes it possible for them to be "tracked" if needed.
