BPO offering scholarship opportunities
The Friends of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra are accepting applications for up to nine scholarships. Seniors who will enroll at a university/college as a music major in the fall of 2027 are eligible to apply. The deadline for applications is Nov. 18. Silver Creek Senior Citizens meet
SILVER CREEK - The Silver Creek Seniors met on Oct. 13 with 20 members present. Secretary Lorrie Newman opened the meeting with all saying the Pledge of Allegiance and singing God Bless America. She then welcomed guests Debby Suski and Brooks Truitt. The group sang happy birthday to Pauline Flitt and wished a happy 75th anniversary to Harry and Joan Suski. Chaplain Pauline read "We Need" and offered a blessing for the members and their brown-bag lunches.
The "sign in" winners were Deanna Borrello, Harry Suski and Janice Snyder. The 50-50 winners were Helen Brock, Ginny Chesbro and Debby. Wheel of fortune lucky winners included Brooks, Eleanor Lemiszko, Lorrie, Joe Dolce and Pauline. Lorrie called bingo and winners were: Ruth Sheeler (twice), Eleanor (twice), Annette Hoeber, Pauline (3 times), Joe, Brooks, Debby, and Judy Hahn. Members decided on pot luck for lunch next week.
The Silver Creek Seniors meet every Tuesday at 1 p.m., arrive by 12:30 p.m. Call Lorrie for information at 716-785-1074. Note: The group is inviting everyone 55 years of age or older to come and join in the fun.
Ethics board meets Thursday
MAYVILLE, N.Y. - The Chautauqua County Ethics Board will be holding a meeting on Thursday at 1 p.m. in Room 331 of the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St. in Mayville, N.Y.
Current members of the board are Dr. John Hamels and Diane Hannum.
