Bake sale open house on Tuesday
SHERIDAN -- The Sheridan Historical Society at 2702 Route 20 will hold a bake sale Open House from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday. The winner will be drawn for a patriotic quilt – tickets will still be sold up to the drawing.
Brocton Portland Seniors gather
Brocton Portland Seniors met Oct. 27 at Brocton Legion with President Anita Calcaterra welcoming 58 members.
Clara Wilder shared the Prayer of Thanks, and Laurel Giambra led the Pledge of Allegiance. New members Judy Presuti and Genevieve Ludemann were welcomed. Halloween table decorations and goodies of all varieties were by the committee of Rose and Laurel Giambra, Denise Spiller, Rita Bennett, Tom Hebeisen, Barb Crandall, Chuck Cichon and Clara Wilder. Judges for the Halloween contest were Dave Hazelton and Craig Miller.
Winners were Lucy Pasinski, Rita Bennett, Rosie Giambra, Becky Addington, Denise Griffin and Laurel Giambra with his pitchfork!
The Brocton Fire Department is having a meat raffle on Saturday and ham dinner on Nov. 14 at Tri Church Parish in Brocton. The Portland Fire Department meat raffle is also Nov. 14.
Brocton Legion is having a craft show Nov. 15.
The nomination committee for 2027 officers is Rose Brumagin, Rose Giambra, Linda Burton, Rita Bennett and Brenda Drummond for the Nov 24 meeting.
Robin Carr gave information on trips, call her at 716 230 4081 for details. The Legion served a catered luncheon of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans and bread. A Halloween decorated cake completed the delicious meal.
October birthdays were Russ Plucinski, Clara Wilder, Edie Seekings, Deborah Gillis, Chuck Cichon and Judy Travis. There were 12 raffle winners! Door prizes went to Judy Nixon, Olive Becker, Evonne Hennnebery. and Judy Fingerhut.
The Band Check 1.2 entertained with memory songs of past years and ended with all singing God Bless America.
Nov. 24 is the next catered meeting. Members are to call Judy Moffett at 716-680-1011 for a reservation by Nov. 17. The cost is $10. The meal is KFC chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, coleslaw, biscuit and choice of cake. Pat Cook is the entertainment for this Thanksgiving – Christmas Happy Holiday celebration meeting.
