County reports 55 active cases of COVID-19

The Chautauqua County Department of Health said there are 55 active cases of COVID-19.

In its update Monday, county officials reported 28 new cases — which includes information received Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Specifically, of those who tested positive for the coronavirus, six reside in Dunkirk, four in Fredonia, six in Jamestown, one in Bemus Point, two in Brocton, one in Lakewood, one in Mayville, one in Portland and two in Stockton.

The county Health Department said there are three active cases among employees at Fieldbrook Foods Inc., with no active community contacts. To date, 82 people tied to the ice cream manufacturing plant have recovered.

Further, there are currently 13 active cases among SUNY Fredonia students; 75 people have recovered.

There remains 361 county residents under quarantine/isolation orders by the public health director and are being monitored. Not all of those being monitored are confirmed to have COVID-19 but have either shown symptoms, are awaiting results or have risk factors.

In addition, 220 people are under domestic traveler quarantine for having arrived to Chautauqua County from a state listed on the New York state travel advisory. There are also three people with COVID-19 who remain hospitalized as of Sept. 10 as well as 517 recovered cases, 10 deaths, 582 total confirmed cases and 38,761 negative test results.
