Excitement, caution in reopening of schools

A number of school districts opened today in a very new way across northern Chautauqua County.

With facial coverings in place, pupils and staff were welcomed at a number of schools in the area. Dunkirk City Schools, however, will not be opening until later this month. Cassadaga Valley Central School is remote this week while opening to one group of students on Monday and another on Sept. 17.

The return for some students marks the first time they have been in the buildings since the middle of March, when the pandemic forced all educational institutions to close.

Silver Creek Central School tweeted earlier, “Excited to see some Black Knights in the building this morning.”
