County reports 32 new COVID cases; 24 tied to adult care facilities

A second round of COVID-19 testing among residents at two adult care facilities in the south county netted 24 new positive tests, the Chautauqua County Department of Health announced.

The testing at Tanglewood Manor and Memory Garden in West Ellicott took place Monday at the direction of the New York State Department of Health. All residents who had previously tested negative following an outbreak first reported earlier this month were again tested.

There are currently 11 active cases among employees and 79 active cases among residents associated with Tanglewood Manor; 13 people associated with this outbreak have recovered.

On Tuesday, the county Health Department reported 32 new cases in total. Those cases break down as follows: 25 in the Jamestown zip code, four in Dunkirk, two in Fredonia and one in Cherry Creek.

As of Monday, 18 people with COVID-19 remain hospitalized in addition to 742 recoveries, 13 deaths and 904 total confirmed cases.
