County reports 16th COVID-19-related death

The Chautauqua County Department of Health announced the 16th death related to COVID-19.

“A gentleman in his 90s with multiple comorbidities succumbed to complications of COVID-19,” the county said in its update Tuesday. “Our sincere condolences go to his loved ones.”

In addition, 31 new cases of COVID-19 were reported. Of those, seven reside in the Fredonia zip code, six in Jamestown, two in Brocton, three in Dunkirk, three in Bemus Point, two in Lakewood and one each in Sherman, Findley Lake, Frewsburg, Falconer, Silver Creek, Forestville, Panama and Celoron.

There remains 159 active cases for those who continue to recover under orders from the local health official in addition to seven people hospitalized, 1,203 recoveries and 1,379 total confirmed cases.

In Cattaraugus County, there remained 613 total confirmed cases as of 5 p.m. Tuesday in addition to 117 active cases, 474 recoveries and 22 deaths.
