Cattaraugus County reported two new COVID-19-related deaths Thursday evening, an 87-year-old woman and 62-year-old man. To date, 35 Cattaraugus residents have died due to complications associated with the coronavirus.

“We extend our deepest condolences to their families and the entire Cattaraugus County community,” the county Health Department said.

The county also reported 85 new cases, bringing the total to 1,965. There were 699 actives cases in addition to 1,231 recoveries and 32 county residents with the virus in the hospital. The positivity rate, those confirmed to have COVID compared to the number of tests administered, was 7.3% over a seven-day average.

The county has recorded 298 new cases of the virus in the last seven days, or about 42.5 each day.
