The county’s 27th COVID-related death was reported Thursday.

In statistics released by the Chautauqua County Department of Health, 66 new cases of the virus were announced, marking 3,123 to date. The number of active cases also jumped, from 377 to 415.

Those in the hospital with COVID decreased, the county reported, from 37 on Wednesday to 31 Thursday.

Of the new cases, 24 involve people in the Jamestown zip code, seven in Dunkirk, four in Fredonia, four in Lakewood, five in Westfield and three each in Clymer, Falconer and Mayville. Several municipalities also reported one or two new cases each.

Of the current active cases, Jamestown continues to lead with 127, followed by 41 in Dunkirk, 34 in Fredonia, 30 in Frewsburg and 29 in Mayville.
